Australia’s Healthy Weight Week (“we”, “us”, “our”) publishes guides and articles about social media and online marketing at healthyweightweek.com.au. We respect your privacy and keep the data we hold to the minimum we need to run the site. This page sets out what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Who is responsible for your data
Australia’s Healthy Weight Week is the data controller for this website. If you have a question about your privacy or want to exercise any of the rights described below, please use the contact page.
Information we collect
We collect very little. The main categories are:
- Server logs — when your browser requests a page, our server records the request URL, the time, your IP address, your user agent, and basic technical metadata. We use this to keep the site running and to detect abuse.
- Analytics — we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which articles are popular and how the site is used. We do not build advertising profiles.
- Contact submissions — if you write to us through the contact page, we receive your message and any details you choose to include.
- Comments — if commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, your name, email address and IP are stored alongside the comment.
How we use your information
We use the information above to run the site, understand which content is useful, reply to enquiries, and keep the site secure. We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it for marketing purposes.
Cookies
The site sets a small number of functional cookies (for example to remember settings you choose) and may set analytics cookies as described above. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time without affecting your ability to read articles.
Third-party services
Some pages embed content from other services — YouTube, Twitter, occasional advertising — which set their own cookies and have their own privacy policies. We choose embeds carefully but do not control how those services handle your data.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, and to request deletion. You can do this through the contact page. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
How long we keep data
Server logs are retained for a short period and then rotated. Contact submissions are kept while they are useful and then deleted. Comments are kept for as long as the article they are attached to remains published, unless you ask us to remove them.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when our practices change. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change.
